Colo-i-Suva Forest Park — Guided Rainforest & Waterfall Walk (59 chars)

Twenty minutes out of Suva the city stops and the rainforest starts. Colo-i-Suva has been a forest reserve since 1952, and the walk down through it follows Waisiliva Creek to a run of waterfalls and clear natural pools you can swim in — the sort of place that looks staged in photographs and is not. The catch is that the trails are steep, the rocks are slippery, the roots are everywhere and the signposting is genuinely poor. People get lost here. That is exactly why we send a guide with you: you get the swimming holes without the wrong turns. Allow two to three hours, wear shoes with grip rather than jandals, and bring swimmers. There are changing rooms and toilets at the trailhead and open bure shelters if you want to sit a while afterwards. Open every day of the year, eight until half four.
