A short, practical list for the week before you travel. None of it is exciting. All of it saves problems.
1. Check your flight and airport status
Tourism Fiji is currently flagging temporary domestic airport closures for maintenance, which can affect island-hopping connections rather than international arrivals. Before you fly, check Fiji Airways' travel alerts for the latest, and Tourism Fiji's travel advisory page for weather warnings.
2. Confirm your transfers
Nadi International Airport is the main gateway. If you land late, have your transfer arranged in advance — taxi availability thins out after the evening arrivals. Hiring a car? Remember Fiji drives on the left, and roads off the main routes can be rough.
3. Book water-based trips before you arrive
Day cruises and island transfers are the first things to sell out in the dry season. Booking ahead also means that if weather forces a change, you have time to reschedule.
4. Sort small cash
Cards work fine at resorts and larger operators, but markets, village visits and small boat operators are far easier with cash in small notes.
5. Pack for sun and rain
Reef-safe sunscreen, a rash vest, water shoes and a light rain layer, whatever the season. Full list in our packing guide.
6. Save your booking receipt
Every FijiDude booking has a Download receipt link on the confirmation page — no account needed. Save it to your phone before you fly, so you have your reference and meeting point offline. See how bookings are confirmed.
