Planning a Fiji trip for the end of 2026 or early 2027? Tourism Fiji describes November to April as the wet season. That is useful background for choosing how to travel, but it is not a forecast for your particular week.
Our recommendation is to build flexibility into the itinerary before you start booking. A holiday with room to move is easier to adapt than one in which every boat, transfer and activity depends on the previous one finishing exactly on time.
Give your must-do activity another possible day
If one water-based experience is the main reason for your trip, avoid leaving it until your final afternoon. Enquire about an earlier date and ask whether rescheduling is possible if the operator cancels for weather. Read the actual cancellation terms rather than assuming every booking is refundable.
Keep a second option that you would enjoy in its own right. A hosted food experience or cultural visit may suit a different kind of day, but check whether the venue and transport are suitable for the conditions. A waterfall or river activity is not automatically a good rainy-day alternative.
Make connections with breathing room
Ask your accommodation and transport providers to review any same-day island-to-international-flight connection. Find out what support is available if a service changes. For separately booked legs, establish who is responsible for each part before paying.
Write the booking references and local contact numbers in one note that you can access offline. Share it with another person in your group. The aim is to make changing a plan straightforward if you need to.
Watch the forecast, then follow the operator's decision
Closer to departure, use current Fiji Meteorological Service information and local advice. Seasonal averages cannot tell you whether a particular boat trip will run. Never pressure an operator to proceed when they have cancelled for conditions.
